Day 1 – Glasgow International Airport, Scotland

(Sun) – The fun begins with everyone’s arrival throughout the day. Today will be a day of rest and relaxation as fellow quilters arrive. We will all meet in the evening for a welcome dinner.

Day 2 – Tour of Glasgow, Scotland

(Mon) – We will start our tour in the largest city in Scotland and voted one of the friendliest in the world – Glasgow. We will tour this world class city with free time to explore and have lunch. In the afternoon, we will travel to the magnificent Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Historical Museum where you will do a self-guided tour. Inside this spectacular museum, there are over 8,000 objects covering art, archaeology, and natural history.  Once we have immersed ourselves in British history, we will head to our hotel to rest our feet for tomorrow’s adventures.

Day 3 – Stirling Castle – Knights in Shining Armor

(Tues) – Fabric and more will be the order this morning. Who can resist that? We are off to our first quilt shop and what a shop it is. Lots of fabrics to choose from. We will stop and have lunch and, in the afternoon, we will head to Stirling for a tour of the castle and the rest of the day is yours to explore.

Day 4 – Edinburgh Castle – More Knights in Shining Armor

(Wed) – After a hearty breakfast, we will board the bus and head to none other than Edinburgh Castle, for a guided tour and walk in the footprints of Knights, Soldiers, Kings and Queens. This spectacular castle was built in the 12th century. After the tour, there will be time to walk around and have lunch before we head to our second quilt shop.

Day 5 – A Countryside View on our way to York

(Thurs) – Through the countryside we go. Our destination is to see The Great Tapestry of Scotland. Where Scotland’s history begins, giving us an introduction to Scotland’s history, heritage, and culture. After we will stop and lunch at the Otterburn Mill Shop & Café before heading onto our hotel in Harrogate for the night..

Day 6 – A Day in York

(Fri) – Now that we have settled in for the next few days, we will start with a tour of York and the Shambles before heading over to the York Minister Cathedral, finishing the day with some free time to look around before heading back to the hotel.

Day 7 – The Bowes Museum

(Sat) – The Bowes Museum awaits us. A fabulous museum of treasures collected by two people, John & Josephine Bowes in the 1800’s. After a tour and a talk, we will sit and have a lunch in this beautiful old building. On our return to the hotel, we will stop at another quilt shop just to have a peek at what else you might need. And if on your own time, you would like a light dinner, drop off your purchases of the day and head over to Betty’s, a famous 100-year-old café and tea room that opened in 1919.

Day 8 – UNESCO World Heritage Site – Cromford Mills

(Sun) – Today we are headed southwest to Stratford-Upon-Avon. On route we will stop and have a tour of the Cromford Mills. Step back in time to the first successful water powered cotton spinning mill built in 1771. With lots of shops and cafes, we will have lunch there. From there we will check into our hotel in Stratford-Upon-Avon and head over for our dinner and some Shakespeare education at Halls Croft, the home of Susanna, Shakespeare’s daughter and her husband, built in 1616.

Day 9 – Stratford-Upon-Avon

(Mon) – Time will be well spent in Stratford-Upon-Avon today with some free time and visiting Anne Hathaway’s Cottage before heading north to the historical town of Ruthin, situated in the North of Wales. Its origins begin in the early 13th century. Tonight, we will snuggle down in a castle for two nights.

Day 10 – It’s a Surprise!

(Tues) – We have a couple of great ideas we are checking out. You will have to wait to find out. It’s a surprise!

Day 11 – Trefriw Woolen Mills & Llandudno

(Wed) – Today the bus will take us to the Trefriw Woolen Mills where we will see traditional weaving from Wales. Be prepared to be mesmerized with the weaving of very intricate patterns and creations. We have given lots of time for you to browse the shop and visit their tea room if you wish before we head to Llandudno for our final quilt shop and a night’s stay in this picturesque seaside town.

Day 12 – Snowdon Mountain Railway

(Thurs) – This tour would not be complete without a railway ride up to the summit of Snowdon Mountain. (Weather permitting) The rail cars have been making this journey up the highest mountain in Wales and England since 1896 and you will see why. The views are spectacular. But don’t take our word; you will have to see for yourself. After our three hours tour up and back, we will make our way onto our Manchester hotel, our final destination.

Day 13 – Farewell

(Fri) – After 12 fabulous days, it will be time to share breakfast together one last time before we leave the United Kingdom to return home and tell others of our “bonnie” adventures.
