This tour involves a lot of walking. You must be capable of walking 10,000 – 12,000 steps during a day over uneven or cobblestone surfaces,

Day 0 – Time to Fly
(April 11) – Today board your overnight flight to Europe.
Meals to be served on the flight. For this tour, you must arrive at the first designated hotel before noon.
Day 1 – Arrive in Glasgow, Scotland
(April 12) – Welcome to Scotland! After arriving at your hotel, enjoy some free time to unwind or begin exploring Glasgow at your own pace. This evening, meet your fellow quilters and tour hosts at a warm Welcome Dinner, where you’ll get acquainted and hear about the exciting days ahead.

Day 2 – Glasgow & Sewing Inspiration
(April 13) – After breakfast, enjoy a guided panoramic tour of Glasgow, Scotland’s largest city, known for its stunning Victorian architecture, vibrant culture, and rich history. Learn about the city’s fascinating past while taking in many of its iconic landmarks. In the afternoon, spend time enjoying a special quilting workshop at our first Quilt Shop, where creativity, inspiration, and plenty of laughter are sure to be shared. The evening is yours to explore Glasgow’s many restaurants or simply relax after a wonderful first full day.

Day 3 – Into the Scottish Highlands!
(April 14) – Today you’ll leave the city behind as you journey through some of Scotland’s most breathtaking Highland scenery. Travel through the dramatic valley of Glencoe, famous for its rugged mountains, waterfalls, and fascinating history, before continuing through Fort William. Along the way, you’ll enjoy a memorable afternoon tea at the beautiful Inverlochy Castle, surrounded by spectacular Highland views. This evening you’ll arrive in Inverness, the capital of the Highlands, where you’ll gather for dinner and settle into your hotel.

Day 4 – Loch Ness, Castles & Highland Charm
(April 15) – Spend the morning on one of Scotland’s most iconic experiences—a scenic cruise on legendary Loch Ness. Visit the impressive ruins of Urquhart Castle, perched dramatically on the shores of the loch, and keep an eye out for the famous Nessie! Later, travel to the magnificent Dunrobin Castle, one of Scotland’s oldest continuously inhabited castles, with its beautiful gardens and grand interiors. It’s a day filled with unforgettable scenery, history, and Highland beauty.

Day 5 – Journey to the Orkney Islands
(April 16) Enjoy a leisurely morning exploring the charming city of Inverness, enjoy lunch in the city centre and a visit to the local quilt shop before setting out on our journey to Scrabster and Saint Johns. This evening, board the ferry to Orkney and enjoy the crossing as the sun begins to set. Arriving in the picturesque harbour town of Stromness, you’ll immediately be captivated by its winding stone streets, charming waterfront, and welcoming island atmosphere.

Day 6 – Ancient Wonders & Creative Inspiration
(April 17) – Discover why Orkney is considered one of Europe’s greatest archaeological treasures as you visit the remarkable Ring of Brodgar and the incredibly well-preserved Neolithic village of Skara Brae. These UNESCO World Heritage Sites offer an extraordinary glimpse into life more than 5,000 years ago. Enjoy a hands-on block printing workshop with local textile artist Rosalind Johansson, creating your own unique textile keepsake inspired by the islands’ rich artistic traditions.

Day 7 – Explore Historic Kirkwall
(April 18) – Spend the morning discovering Kirkwall on a guided walking tour, learning about the town’s fascinating Viking heritage and medieval history while strolling its charming streets. Visit historic sites including the remains of St. Olaf’s Kirk before enjoying free time to browse local shops, cafés, and galleries.

Day 8 – Island Heritage & Needle Felting
(April 19) – Your final full day in Orkney combines history, artistry, and local craftsmanship. Visit the magnificent St. Magnus Cathedral, Scotland’s oldest cathedral, followed by the Orkney Museum, where the islands’ remarkable history comes to life. In the afternoon, enjoy an exclusive needle felting workshop with local artist Catherine Wells, creating your own interpretation of the iconic Ring of Brodgar using colourful wool. Later this evening, board the overnight ferry back to mainland Scotland.

Day 9 – A day for Fibre Lovers
(April 20) – Arriving in Aberdeen this morning, we will enjoy a lovely breakfast in town before heading south into the Scottish countryside for a day dedicated to yarn, fabric, and quilting. Enjoy a demonstration at our next quilt shop, where you’ll also have time to browse the beautiful selection of fibres and fabrics while enjoying lunch. Later, we visit our third Quilt Shop of the tour, another wonderful opportunity to discover unique fabrics, patterns, and quilting treasures before arriving in Stirling for the evening.

Day 10 – Castles, Kelpies & Quilt Shopping
(April 21) – Begin the day exploring the magnificent Stirling Castle, one of Scotland’s grandest royal residences, where centuries of Scottish history come alive. After free time in Stirling, stop to admire the impressive Kelpies, the world’s largest equine sculptures, before visiting a cute little Quilt Shop. With an exclusive shopping discount awaiting the group, it’s the perfect opportunity to add a few special fabrics to your collection before continuing to beautiful Edinburgh.

Day 11 – Scotland’s Textile Traditions
(April 22) – Today’s journey celebrates Scotland’s rich textile heritage. Visit a beautiful Quilt Shop before touring the famous Lochcarron of Scotland Tartan Mill, where you’ll discover how Scotland’s iconic tartans are designed and woven using traditional techniques. Continue to the remarkable Great Tapestry of Scotland, where beautifully embroidered panels tell the story of Scotland’s history through extraordinary needlework. It’s an inspiring day that beautifully blends quilting, weaving, and Scottish culture.

Day 12 – The Best of Edinburgh
(April 23) – Experience the charm and history of Scotland’s capital on a guided walking tour through both the elegant Georgian New Town and the medieval Old Town. Visit the iconic Edinburgh Castle, home to Scotland’s Crown Jewels and centuries of royal history, before enjoying free time along the famous Royal Mile. Browse tartan and fabric shops, explore historic closes, or relax in one of the city’s welcoming cafés. This evening, celebrate an incredible journey with your fellow travellers at a memorable Farewell Dinner.

Day 13 – Farewell Scotland
(April 24) – After breakfast, it’s time to say goodbye to Scotland as you transfer to Edinburgh Airport for your flight home. As your journey comes to an end, you’ll take home wonderful memories of spectacular scenery, fascinating history, inspiring textile traditions, exclusive quilting experiences, and friendships that will last long after the final stitch has been sewn.
