Day 1 – Welcome to Philadelphia
(Sat Sept 6) – Today will be a day of rest and relaxation as we greet fellow quilters as they arrive. We will all meet in the evening for a welcome dinner.

Day 2 – Historic Philadelphia
(Sun Sept 7) – This morning, we will enjoy a tour of the Historic District of Philadelphia. We will see such sites as Independence Hall, the Betsy Ross House, the Liberty Bell and Christ Church. After Lunch, we will travel to see the magnificent Winterthur Museum and Gardens. The Winterthur of today is the living vision of collector and horticulturist Henry Francis du Pont, and the Winterthur Garden is called the greatest naturalistic garden in North America. Today, the collections are displayed in the 175-room house, the former estate of the du Pont family. The beauty of this exceptional place will transfix you.

Day 3 – Amish Country / Private Quilt Showing
(Mon Sept 8) – After breakfast, we will head to the Mennonite Information Center, where we will meet our personal Mennonite Guide, who will join our bus as we soak in the beauty and simplicity of Amish Country and roam the back roads of Lancaster County, making several stops along the way. The afternoon awaits with a “white glove” private quilt, turning with a curator from the Lancaster County Historical Society and an opportunity to explore “Wheatland.” Learn about the life and legacy of James Buchanan, the 15th president of the United States, and the family he raised at his beloved home located at this site.

Day 4 – The Ephrata Cloister
(Tues Sept 9) – After breakfast, the tour continues as we head northeast to one of America’s earliest religious communities, the Ephrata Cloister, founded in 1732 by German settlers seeking spiritual goals rather than earthly rewards. Today, it is a National Historic Landmark worth seeing. And we will visit two quilt shops.

Day 5 & Day 6 – Lancaster AQS Quilt Show
(Wed Sept 10 & Thurs Sept 11) – Shop the vendors and be in awe of fabulous quilts and fabrics. We will spend the next two days at the Lancaster AQS Quilt Show. Our bus will have a set schedule to shuttle us back and forth to the show for these two days.

Day 7 – Quilt Shops & Amish Countryside
(Fri Sept 12) – Intercourse is a fascinating village full of delightful treasures, friendly shopkeepers, and quality food and merchandise, nestled in the scenic Amish Country. Our time there will start with a visit to several out-of-the-way quilt shops to find quilting treasures. You will have the rest of the day to explore the Kitchen Kettle Village and have to visit “The Old Country Store” fabric quilt shop. At the end of the day, we will head to our hotel to relax and unwind before our farewell dinner.

Day 8 – See you again soon!
(Sat Sept 13) – As we say our goodbyes, we will leave Philadelphia to return home to tell others of our new friends and fun adventures.
