Arrival in England on August 9th, 2016. If you are travelling from North America you will need to depart on August 8th, 2016 and take an overnight flight.

 Day 1 – Arrive in England, travel to the City of York

We will start our journey with a relaxing ride, through the beautiful countryside of England to the City of York. Once we arrive, we will enjoy a private walking tour of York and take a step back in time to a medieval 14th century church that is tucked away behind one of York’s busiest streets This evening we will have a Welcome Dinner to meet and chat with all of our travelling companions. Day 2 – 19th Century French Chateau – Bowes Museum

Today we will travel to the Bowes Museum, located within the walls of a 19th century French Chateau. This castle (Barnard) is the home of a very large assortment of quilts, tapestries, needlework and lace. Upon our return to York, you will have the rest of the day to yourselves. As you will see, this old city is full of all sorts of shops that you may wish to explore and shop for souvenirs. All within a 10 min walk is The Viking Loom, Knit and Stitch, Duttons for Buttons, the Art Shop and many more. Free time. Stay overnight in York, England

Day 3 – Stratford Upon Avon

Let’s go back in time! Sit back, relax as we head to the birthplace of Shakespeare, Stratford-Upon-Avon. Once there, we will enjoy a walking tour of Stratford-Upon-Avon. A famous 16th century Shakespearian town with half timbered buildings and thatched roofs. It is truly a storybook setting. The rest of the day will be free time to explore and enjoy the sights and shopping of this well preserved medieval village. Stay overnight in Stratford-Upon-Avon

Day 4 – The Quilt Festival, Britain’s Largest Quilt Show 

We are off bright and early to Birmingham to spend the entire day at the Festival of Quilts. This event spans over 4 days and is the biggest quilt gala in Great Britain. Here there is so much to enjoy, see and learn. From historical pieces, individual artists, competitive pieces, to the all too familiar marketplace with many fabulous vendors and manufacturers. You will not want to miss any of it. Stay overnight in Stratford-Upon-Avon

Day 5 – Anne Hathaway’s Cottage & American Quilt Museum 

Today we will visit Anne Hathaway’s Cottage before heading to Bath. This was the home and gardens of Anne’s before her marriage to Shakespeare. After lunch we will arrive at the American Quilt Museum in Bath. It is the only museum of decorative art outside of the United States. There are over 200 quilts in the collection dating from the eighteenth to mid twentieth century. Stay overnight in Bath

Day 6 – Bath, Ancient Roman Baths

Our journey today takes us to the beautiful Georgian city of Bath where we will have a guided tour of the Roman baths that were built nearly 2000 years ago. After all that walking we will be ready for a rest. We will board the bus and head off for a “Jolly good time in London” Stay overnight in London

Day 7 – London Tour

This morning we will ride the tube to explore the largest city in England, London. We will enjoy a guided panoramic tour of London taking in Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, Leicester Square, St. Paul’s Cathedral and many other major landmarks. After the tour, we will head to the Tower of London to see the crown jewels. Stay overnight in London

Day 8 – Victoria and Albert Museum

Our morning begins with a trip to the famous Victoria and Albert Museum. You will have a leisurely time embracing the different exhibits as well as viewing designs by William Morris. Stay as long as you wish. Dubbed the “greatest museum of applied and decorative arts in the world” it has many hidden treasures. The rest of the afternoon is yours to discover. Head to Central London to enjoy free time to do some sightseeing and/or shopping. Maybe take a look inside the Liberty of London department store on Regent St. It is well known for its latest English floral and graphic fabrics. Head a couple of blocks east to Berwick St to find many small quaint shops and more fabrics. (The Cloth Shop) Do some last minute souvenir shopping and spend the rest of the day taking in the sites of this breathtaking city. Enjoy dinner as a group included. This evening we will celebrate with a festive farewell dinner. Stay overnight in London

Day 9 – Say farewell to England 

Board our coach for your transfer to the airport to catch our return flight to Canada.
